An Australian university’s graphic design school helped create a new font that helps the reader remember information. So says The Guardian, as they have the fascinating story of the creation of Sans Forgetica — love that font name! Apparently the font was designed with college students cramming for exams in mind, but researchers say it could help elderly people dealing with memory loss and help people studying foreign languages. Even better? The Guardian has a link to download the free font to check out for yourself!

Swatch has teamed up with British artist Damien Hirst for a pair of limited edition timepieces to honor the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse. Mickey made his first appearance in May of 1928, and quickly grew into the face of the Walt Disney Company. Hirst has made quite a departure from the familiar face of Mickey, but he’s still easily recognizable, so purists have no need to worry!

Earlier this year, PANTONE promised to simplify work processes for graphic designers. Its latest offering is a revamped version of their Color Finder that makes it easier than ever to find swatches and their equivalent color values. The all-new (and free!) tool lets you browse Pantone colors, and clicking on a swatch directs you to a page that reveals its exact RGB, HEX, and CMYK values, as well as recommends which samples to purchase. What a great time saver for graphic designers!

Instagram Stories are catching more and more eyeballs every day, so creative agency Mother had an idea to pitch to the New York Public Library — put novels on Stories. Eye on Design has the scoop on how three graphic designers created Instagram-friendly versions of three classic stories, including “Alice in Wonderland.” The idea was a major success.
