Meet the Atlanta Designers Who Created the Coronavirus ‘Spiky Blob’

Nov 05, 2020

There are many images that help define the coronavirus pandemic, whether they’re tragic or hopeful. People in masks going about their daily lives, hospital scenes, delivery drivers dropping off food at someone’s door, frontline healthcare workers on a shift change, the Zoom call with its many boxes.

But one image defines the coronavirus more than anything, because it actually is the coronavirus. It’s what’s known as the “spiky blob” — a visualization of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Oct 30, 2020

You’ve probably heard the term “type family” before, but here is the first “type superfamily.” By the creator of Verdana, Georgia, and Tahoma, Role is an ambitious and international undertaking. The Biden campaign has had a brilliant, out-of-the-box idea to reach potential voters without reaching them physically: they’ve made an island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

Oct 21, 2020

We’ve been hyping it up for months, and yesterday was the day! Adobe MAX is live and free for everyone! The three-day conference kicked off with a keynote yesterday, and the new features they introduced into their creative software made some of us here actually screech with excitement! They debuted new features and workflows across much of the Creative Cloud, but the Illustrator and Photoshop updates are so exciting for a graphic designer! BRB, we need to go buy an iPad Pro…

Swat the Fly with Stick.se!

Oct 16, 2020

We love a cheeky ad campaign, this one does not disappoint! If you tuned in to the 2020 Vice Presidential Debate, you know that there was an unexpected 3rd party on the stage with the candidates: the fly. Of course, the internet immediately gravitated to this, and Stick.se, a Swedish pest company, got their marketing and design team on it quickly. Topical and timely references in design are certainly not evergreen, but they can be really impactful design choices while they’re relevant!
