Be Your Own Beeple

Earlier month, the art world was taken by storm with the massive sale of…a JPG. That’s right. Digital artist Beeple created his work, titled Everydays, as a composite of 5,000 daily works of art he has been making every day since 2007. And it sold at auction for $69.3 MILLION. The JPG, known in the art auction world as a non-fungible token, or NFT, is the most expensive one sold yet. Ok, we’re graphic designers, how do we make a million-dollar JPG? Well, it may not end up being worth any money, but artists Sam Newell and Vince McKelvie have created the Beeple Generator, a site that automatically creates random 3D digital art in the style of Beeple, so you can replicate his multimillion-dollar-making formula without doing any of the work. While it’s obviously a tongue-in-cheek reaction to the massive sale, it’s a very interesting look into what could be the future of digital art!
