4 very valid rebranding concerns & how we address them with clients

Jul 01, 2025

Rebranding your business is a big deal. There’s an undeniable excitement that comes with it because rebrands offer a fresh start. But this type of project may also leave you feeling a little anxious, especially if you’re deciding to bring on a new design partner.

Unfortunately, if those “what ifs” aren’t addressed, it could result in issues that cause delays during a rebrand.

Let’s shed some light on common concerns we’ve heard and how we’ve addressed them with clients to turn any uneasiness into confidence in our team.

“What if you don’t do a good job? We’ve been burned in the past.”

It’s beyond frustrating when you put your trust in someone, and they make you regret it by not fulfilling their end of the deal because they went over budget, missed the mark, or just plain didn’t deliver.

You’ve invested time and resources into a project that didn’t pan out, so it’s natural to approach future projects with caution. Unfortunately, in more extreme cases, being overly cautious can slow down the creative and review/feedback process.

How we approach this
First of all, we hate that you were let down. Second, we believe in transparency, communication, and, more importantly, having a process that includes:

Clear scope – From discovery to final file handoff, you’ll know exactly what to expect with a detailed scope of work.

Proactive, regular check-ins (and follow-ups) – We keep you informed throughout the entire project, so you’re never kept in the dark about its status.

Honest conversations – We’re upfront about scope, cost, and timelines, so there are no surprises, and we’re able to navigate any unexpected issues that may occur.

And none of these points are negotiable for us because we care about building—and maintaining relationships—with clients. Without the above, it would be almost impossible for us to create the trust needed to collaborate effectively on the rebrand.

“What if you can’t capture my vision?”

Building a business from the ground up is deeply personal, and a rebrand can feel like handing over your most prized possession. You want it treated right.

It’s natural to be afraid that your company’s voice, visual identity, and even its story won’t be reflected in the new brand.

However, this lack of perceived control can lead to micromanaging the rebrand, resisting changes, or reverting to the original brand design.

How we approach this
We understand what it means to put so much of yourself into your business. Our team will respect both it and the brand throughout as we update it.

This is how we strike a balance between elevating your brand identity and accurately reflecting what it stands for.

Comprehensive discovery process – To design for your business, we have to understand it. At the beginning of the project, we undergo an in-depth analysis of your brand and company to inform the design.

Feedback milestones – Your input is an integral part of any rebranding or design project. Throughout the project, there are established milestones in place so you can review and provide your thoughts.

Provide a rationale for the design – When we present a design to look over, we will always connect it back to your original goals and design brief.

The design process is collaborative, which means you are a big part of it, and your feedback plays a considerable role in the rebrand.

“What if you can’t manage a project this big?”

Rebrands impact everyone connected to your business. With that said, not all of them have a say in how it runs or looks.

There may be a few decision-makers who have a say in what they like or dislike as the brand is updated. This uncertainty can lead to hesitation or last-minute pivots.

How we approach this
It’s tricky navigating the back-and-forth between multiple decision-makers within an organization. Luckily, we’re experienced in working with larger businesses and institutions where people have a lot of strong opinions about what they see.

While we can’t wrangle your team, there are a few ways that our team makes the design process easier for all parties involved.

Project management tools – Not only does our team use Breeze to manage assignments internally, but we’re also well-versed in the most common project management software businesses use.

Centralized project hub – Digging through emails is time-consuming and inefficient, so we keep all documentation and design iterations in one place for easy access.

One point of contact – There will be only one person from our agency who will communicate with a single point of contact from your company. On our end, this account manager would oversee the project and coordinate the exchange of information between your team and ours.

It’s in these little details where smooth-running projects come from, ultimately saving everyone’s sanity.

“What if you make me spend too much on this rebrand?”

Budget pressures are real. You have a specific price range you want to stay within.

Unfortunately, this can mean rushing the project unnecessarily or cutting corners to avoid additional costs.

How we approach this
Many of our clients come to us at different points in their journey. Some are startups, while others have been around for years. We advise each one about their options and what is achievable within their budget.

Prioritization – We’ll help you identify what is mandatory for your brand identity versus something that can wait.

Rebranding tied to strategy – We think about the longevity of your brand and design for it so each element is flexible for future use.

Cost transparency – As mentioned before, we’re candid about revision rounds, costs, and trade-offs so you can make an informed decision.

No matter what stage your business is in, we’ll treat your brand with the care and attention it deserves while staying within budget.

Addressing your concerns

We want to make sure that you feel comfortable and trust in our team throughout the rebranding process.

As a creative partner, we support you and also provide guidance throughout the project. For us, it’s about relationship building, and it starts with open conversations about costs, project status, and deliverables.

It also means listening to your concerns and giving you the confidence that you made the right choice. This is how we feel great partnerships are made—and kept.
