The long-awaited second part to Dune is out in theaters today, so we’re here with a very nerdy (on multiple fronts) deep-dive into the “Dune Font” from one of the iconic print runs of the books! This run started in 1975, 10 years after the original publication, and it made a splash almost immediately. No small part of that was the visually arresting cover design, and the centerpiece: the moniker title in the fanciful typeface that hinted at the wonders contained in the pages, Davison Art Nouveau. Check out how this typeface became almost synonymous with the visual legacy of Dune.
