The 80s are Back!

At, least, in graphic design, they are! And since they were the best decade because they produced the 80s babies who make up KEYLAY Design, they had some other design hallmarks as well. The 80s was huge decade in new graphic design trends, and we’ve come full circle and the editorial 80s-style graphic treatment is making a comeback, and we’ve got our eyes on it. Serif is back, Mad Men-style punchy taglines are in, and we’re excited to see some nostalgia on our screens!

Generative AI Food Fails

For everything it can do that’s mind blowing, generative AI imagery isn’t coming for our graphic design gig quite yet. Uber Eats sparked a stir when it seemed they had replaced real food photos on the menu of New York City’s Roma Pizza with bizarre AI-generated images and descriptions. These oddities showed unrealistic food representations, including an obvious difficulty distinguishing between a dessert pie and a pizza pie. The eatery blamed a third party, but safe to say AI was used and quality checks were not!

Reddit Rebrand

It’s a rebrand, and a big one! Design agency Pentagram took on a massive makeover for Reddit, with the goal of capturing that “utopian vibe” in how the site looks. The design team wanted to tidy up Reddit’s mishmash of visuals that had sprouted and grown over time, including revamping Snoo, Reddit’s client mascot, by giving it a 3D look and making a collection of emoji to show its different moods.
