Album Art Design Has Its Night

The Best Album Cover Grammy came back after a very long hiatus for the 2026 awards, and we’re so excited to see design and music come together! Album art has changed a lot since the award disappeared in the ’70s. It used to be mandatory that the artist’s name was prominently displayed on the front. Now it’s more about mood, symbolism, cultural context, and sometimes total artistic chaos. Looking back at the ten years between 2015 to 2025, it’s wild to think about the covers that shaped conversations without ever getting Grammy recognition. From Charli XCX’s Brat to Solange’s A Seat at the Table to Bad Bunny’s quietly powerful plastic chairs, album art has been doing serious cultural heavy lifting. The real question isn’t just who won this year (it was Tyler, The Creator by the way), it’s who should’ve won while the category was on hiatus.
